FIELD PHOTOGRAPHY MAGIC ONLINE TRAINING COURSE

I have combined two of my major life passions  to create this comprehensive online training series titled “Field Photography Magic: Long Exposure and Composition.” My goal was to help both experienced and aspiring landscape photographers to understand and polish their skills to make stunning images. I wanted to demonstrate what gear to use, how to use it for best advantage and how to see the world in unique and creative ways. I also wanted to demonstrate various post-processing skills they could employ using industry standard software apps Photoshop and Lightroom.

In order to create this course,  I had to assume virtually all production and post-production tasks myself. This means I had to wear a lot of hats and operate both behind and in front of the camera. I had to film and record audio in wilderness, sometimes under very challenging, even  extremely dangerous conditions. I also had to plan and script everything in the course before ever ever going out into the field or busting out a camera. In order to be successful, it was incumbent on me to create this training series using ADDIE and other standard instructional design methodologies.

The challenges I faced filming in the field were only the first hurdles to overcome. I also needed to create tons of supporting graphics, animation and other assets in order to best convey the concepts in the most engaging, entertaining and understandable ways possible. Audio needed to be cleaned up, edited and optimized using Adobe Audition and other apps of plugins such as Acon Deverberate. Because I was working with a limited budget, I had to do a lot with a little in order to make the best course possible for the people who would be investing in it.

The courses I have published on the Udemy platform have received top ratings and reviews from the user community. This is a very large competitive platform, so this is wonderful confirmation. In fact, my other course on portfolios and branding for creative professionals remains the number one user-rated course in its category to this day.

I can’t describe how happy and proud I am to have helped so many aspiring photographers. It has been equally satisfying to have had the chance to communicate directly with these people and see their successes and growth. For better or worse, I have done very little marketing of these courses, so their growth has been almost totally organic to this point. That is also wonderful affirmation that they are benefiting the intended audience.
